At Kenneth Clark Co., we’re used to dealing with unexpected challenges in the freight world, but this one really caught us off guard!
It all started when one of our valued clients reached out, letting us know we “cost” him about $3,000 on his latest shipment. As you can imagine, our hearts sank and we were beyond shocked. Especially since according to the order report, everything ran smoothly. But the actual story was far more heartwarming (and a bit hilarious).
Two 4-week-old kittens had managed to sneak aboard the trailer during loading in Ohio and made the journey all the way to New York as stowaways! These tiny, furry passengers were discovered during offloading, and to our amazement, they had survived the trip.
Here’s the silver lining: our client’s wife happens to be a veterinarian, so the kittens got the best care possible. She nursed them back to health, and before we knew it, the “$3,000” bill was actually in reference to the vet care costs (phew!). While the scare gave us a serious case of the sweats, our client had a great sense of humor about it and even joked that he’ll be keeping an eye on future shipments to make sure there are no more surprise animal hitchhikers.
In the end, he paid us a huge compliment on our overall service and let us know, he’ll continue using us for future moves.
Shipping isn’t always predictable, but here at KCC, we handle the unexpected with care, dedication, and maybe just a little laughter along the way. We’re glad to have great clients who keep us on our toes—and sometimes, give us great stories to share.
