We recently had a shipment that was too challenging for most other companies, but a perfect fit for our team.
It was a piece of equipment that was 17’6” long, 11’ wide, 5’6” high, and 50,000 pounds. It went from Manitoba, Canada to Arizona, USA.
The main challenge with this shipment was the large weight during the frost laws. Frost laws are laws that prevent overweight shipments from moving during the spring and fall freeze thaw cycle. During the freeze thaw cycle, roads are very susceptible to damage from overweight shipments. Due to this, we had to increase the amount of axles required to carry the weight, to spread the weight of the equipment out over a larger surface. For this shipment, we needed a 7 axel trailer to accommodate the weight of the unit.
Why were we able to handle this shipment when no one else could? We spent time investigating the requirements of the shipment, and we spoke to the states permit offices to insure we had the correct number of axles and weight disbursement. This allowed us to secure the right truck to handle the order the first time.
